Ali Sabancı, Chairman of the Board of Esas Holding, which also includes Pegasus Airlines, and his wife Vuslat Doğan Sabancı, had a maritime accident in the waters off Leros Island in Greece yesterday. Ali Sabancı and Vuslat Doğan Sabancı, who collided with the rocks in a Zodiac boat, sustained serious injuries.
While on vacation with their yacht off Leros Island in Greece, Ali Sabancı and Vuslat Doğan Sabancı hit the rocks as they were heading to a restaurant for dinner in a Zodiac boat. The seriously injured couple was noticed by passengers on another boat passing by. They were rescued by the passengers and transported to the hospital on the island.
After receiving initial treatment, the Sabancı couple was brought to Bodrum.
According to information obtained by Patronlar Dünyası (World of Business Owners), Ali Sabancı’s spleen was removed, and he was intubated. Ali Sabancı was transferred from Bodrum to the American Hospital in Istanbul by ambulance helicopter around 10:15.
Doctors stated that Ali Sabancı’s condition is stable, his spleen has been removed, and he sustained severe facial injuries during the accident.
It was reported that Vuslat Doğan Sabancı’s health condition is improving, and she will also be transported to the American Hospital by ambulance helicopter around 11:30.
